Bringing horses?
If you are bringing horses/mules:
- Please note that this is self-care horse pen. You feed, water and clean.
- Equines need to be up-to-date on vaccinations.
- Equines need to be supervised at all times. Do not leave the property unless you take your animal with you. And yes, there’s a hitching post at Pony Bar and they love horses 😉
- Max 2 equines — they will share one pen so they need to get along.
- Equine pen has electric fence (not very tall fence so no Houdinis please).
- Please bring your own hay/grains (certified weed-free hay only, please). There may be grass hay available to purchase upon request with prior notice.
- Pen has grass in it. Amount varies. Most likely not enough as the sole source of feed for your equines during your stay.
- You are responsible for cleaning the pen daily. Muck-bucket available.
- Water trough in pen. Fresh water available via hose.
- Lots of shade under the trees in pen.
- Your trailer can be parked right outside the main gate where there also is a hitching post, so no need to unload and bring in all your gear.
Please check the page “Electric horse-fence” for instructions how to operate the fence.
Montana State Equine Activity Liability Act
The Montana equine activity liability act provides that it is the policy of the state of Montana that a person is not liable for damages sustained by another solely as a result of risks inherent in equine activities if those risks are or should be reasonably obvious, expected, or necessary to persons engaged in equine activities. Liability is not limited by this statute where the equine professional knowingly provided faulty tack or equipment, failed to make reasonable and prudent efforts to determine the ability of the participant to engage safely in the equine activity, owns or otherwise is in lawful possession of the land or facilities upon which the participant sustained injuries because of a known, dangerous latent condition, or if he or she commits an act or omission that constitutes willful or wanton disregard for the safety of the participant or intentionally injures the participant.
