Bringing animals?

If you are bringing dogs and/or horses/mules:

We are SO excited that you’re bringing your pet and/or equine with you! The Tobacco Roots mountains are amazing for getting out on the trails with your best friend(s)!

  • Please note that this is self-care for your animals. You feed, water and clean. Buckets etc. available.
  • All animals need to be up-to-date on vaccinations.
  • Animals need to be supervised at all times. Do not leave the property unless you take your animal with you. (And yes, there’s a hitching post at Pony Bar and they love both dogs and equines ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • Max 2 equines and/or 2 dogs (equines will share one pen so they need to get along).
  • Equine pen has 3-rail sturdy wooden fence.
  • Please bring your own feed (equines’ hay need to be certified weed-free hay, please). There may be grass hay available to purchase upon request with prior notice.
  • Equine pen has grass in it. Amount varies. Most likely not enough as the sole source of feed for your equines during your stay.
  • You are responsible for cleaning after your animals daily. Poop bags and muck-bucket available.
  • Water trough in equine pen. Fresh water available via hose.
  • Your horsetrailer can be parked right outside the main gate where there also is a hitching post, so no need to unload and bring in all your gear.

Montana State Equine Activity Liability Act

The Montana equine activity liability act provides that it is the policy of the state of Montana that a person is not liable for damages sustained by another solely as a result of risks inherent in equine activities if those risks are or should be reasonably obvious, expected, or necessary to persons engaged in equine activities. Liability is not limited by this statute where the equine professional knowingly provided faulty tack or equipment, failed to make reasonable and prudent efforts to determine the ability of the participant to engage safely in the equine activity, owns or otherwise is in lawful possession of the land or facilities upon which the participant sustained injuries because of a known, dangerous latent condition, or if he or she commits an act or omission that constitutes willful or wanton disregard for the safety of the participant or intentionally injures the participant.

WARNING: In accordance with Montana Code Annotated ยงยง 27-1-725 through 27-1-727, I understand that the Property Owner is not liable for an injury or death resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities.
